Torso vs Full-Body: Which Configuration is Right for You?

The choice between a torso companion and a full-body companion comes down to three factors: storage space, budget, and use preference. This guide breaks down both options honestly so you can make the right decision for your situation.

What Is a Torso Companion?

A torso companion is a section of a full-body doll — typically covering the chest, abdomen, and hips, sometimes with upper thighs, and sometimes including a head. Arms and legs are not included. Depending on the configuration, a torso can weigh anywhere from 8kg to 30kg.

Torsos don't include a skeleton. They're solid silicone or TPE throughout — which means they're not poseable, but they're also much more compact and require no special storage solution.

What Is a Full-Body Companion?

A full-body companion includes the complete form from head to foot, with a fully articulated stainless steel skeleton that allows posing and repositioning across a wide range of positions. Full-body companions range from 100cm to 176cm and weigh from 12kg to over 50kg.

The skeleton allows you to pose the doll naturally — sitting, lying, standing (with a stand), and a full range of intermediate positions. This posability is one of the primary advantages of full-body over torso.

The Storage Question

A full-body companion at 158cm lying flat takes up approximately 160–170cm × 50–60cm of floor space. In a standing position with a frame, it needs at least 175cm of vertical clearance. Long-term, hanging storage is recommended.

A torso at 60cm can fit in a standard suitcase, a large bag, or a box that slides under a bed. For buyers with limited space or who want to keep their purchase completely private, a torso is significantly easier to manage.

The Weight Question

Full-body companions at popular heights (158cm–165cm) typically weigh between 28kg and 45kg. Lifting, positioning, and moving a companion of this weight is something to consider realistically before buying.

A torso in the 60cm range weighs 10–18kg — manageable for most adults without difficulty. A torso-with-head at around 80–90cm weighs 20–28kg, still considerably lighter than a full-body alternative.

Budget

Torso configurations are generally cheaper than full-body companions of equivalent material quality. A platinum silicone torso typically costs 35–50% less than a full platinum silicone body. If budget is a consideration and you're choosing between an entry-level full-body or a premium-material torso, the torso often wins on quality-per-pound spent.

Which to Choose?

Choose a full-body companion if:

  • Storage space and weight aren't limiting factors
  • You want the full posability that a skeleton provides
  • The complete visual and physical proportions are important to you

Choose a torso if:

  • Space is limited or complete privacy of storage is a priority
  • You prefer a lighter, more manageable form factor
  • Budget allows for a higher-material-quality torso over an entry-level full body
