Troubleshooting Common Care Problems: Tackiness, Dye Transfer, Odor, and Small Marks
What to do first when material feels tacky, smells off, picks up dye, or shows small marks after storage.
Small care problems are easier to solve when you respond calmly. The wrong aggressive fix can turn a minor issue into permanent damage.
Start with the least invasive step, document the issue, and ask support before using chemicals, heat, adhesives, or repair products.
Tackiness
For TPE, tackiness often means the surface needs full drying and a light powdering routine. Clean gently, rinse, dry completely, then apply a small amount of renewal powder or cornstarch if appropriate.
For silicone, persistent tackiness can point to residue, incompatible products, or surface contamination. Do not powder silicone unless Velleria confirms it is appropriate for the exact finish.
Dye transfer
Stop contact with the staining material immediately. Take photos, identify the fabric or object, and ask for support before using any stain remover.
Some transfer can fade slowly; some can become permanent. Harsh solvents may damage the surface more than the stain.
Odor
Odor usually comes from trapped moisture, residue, storage conditions, or incomplete drying. Clean gently, rinse fully, dry internal areas, and air out in a cool shaded place.
Avoid perfumes, strong fragrance sprays, alcohol, or heat. Masking odor is not the same as fixing the cause.
Small marks and pressure lines
Check whether the mark is dirt, dye transfer, compression, or surface damage. Light pressure marks can improve after the material rests supported without load.
Do not pick at the surface. Do not stretch the skin to inspect a mark. If the mark looks like a tear, exposed internal material, or structural damage, stop handling and contact Velleria.
Quick checklist
- Start with mild cleaning, rinsing, and full drying.
- Avoid solvents, alcohol, heat, and abrasive tools.
- Remove staining fabrics immediately.
- Document the issue before trying a fix.
- Ask Velleria before using repair products or stain treatment.
