First-Time Buyer's Guide: Everything You Need to Know Before Ordering

If this is your first time considering a premium companion doll, it's completely normal to have questions — and plenty of them. This guide cuts through the noise so you can make a confident, informed decision.

Understand the Materials First

There are two main materials used in quality companion dolls: platinum silicone and TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). Each has a distinct feel, maintenance profile, and price point.

Platinum silicone is firmer, more realistic in texture, odourless, and significantly more durable. It's hypoallergenic and non-porous, meaning it's far easier to clean thoroughly. The trade-off is cost — silicone dolls typically start around £1,500 and can exceed £4,000 for full-body versions with advanced skeletons.

TPE is softer and more pliable. Many buyers prefer the feel. It's also more affordable, with quality full-body TPE dolls often ranging from £700 to £2,000. The main consideration is that TPE is porous, so cleaning and drying must be thorough to prevent bacterial build-up over time.

We also carry hybrid dolls — silicone heads combined with TPE bodies — which offer the ultra-realistic facial detail of silicone with the softness and cost-efficiency of a TPE body.

Get the Sizing Right

Height is the most common source of first-time buyer confusion. Our dolls range from 138cm to 176cm, but height alone doesn't tell the full story.

The overall weight of a full-body doll depends on its body type. A 158cm doll with a slender frame might weigh 25–30kg, while the same height with a fuller figure can reach 38–45kg. This matters practically — consider how you'll be positioning and storing the doll.

Our size guide includes height, weight ranges, and storage dimension estimates for each category. Read it before you order.

Think About Storage

Many buyers don't think about storage until after the doll arrives. Full-body dolls are typically 138cm–176cm in height and, even in a standing frame, require storage in a hanging position or lying flat. Hanging hooks designed for closet use are the most common approach for discreet, long-term storage.

Torso models are significantly more manageable — roughly 50–80cm — and can be stored in a standard suitcase or dedicated carry case.

The Skeleton Makes a Difference

All of our full-body dolls include an articulated stainless steel skeleton. What varies is the articulation range and the joint type. Standard joints allow natural resting positions, sitting, lying, and basic standing (with a stand). Premium joints — sometimes called "movable jaw" or "EVO joints" on specialist models — allow more nuanced positioning and hold poses more securely.

If posability is important to you, look for products with explicit mentions of upgraded joint systems in the product specifications.

Customisation: What's Included and What Costs Extra

Standard customisation options — face, skin tone, eye colour, hair colour, nail colour, and body type — are included in the base price and selected at checkout via variant options.

Non-standard customisation (custom head sculpts, proportion changes, embedded heating elements, or any modification that requires new tooling) is a separate process. Contact us before ordering if you have specific requirements outside the standard options. We'll provide a clear cost estimate upfront, and we price custom tooling at cost — we don't mark it up.

Discretion, Packaging, and Delivery

All orders ship in plain, unmarked outer cartons. There is no external branding, no visible description of contents, and no indication of the sender's identity. The outer box is dimensionally generic — the kind used by any furniture or electronics retailer.

Delivery is handled by reputable international freight partners. Tracking is provided. Customs paperwork, where required, describes contents as "silicone figures" or similar neutral terminology.

Your card or bank statement will show a generic merchant name, not Velleria or any recognisable brand.

What Happens After You Order

Your order enters our production queue immediately after payment clears. Standard lead time is 15–30 business days for most silicone and TPE models; hybrid dolls and custom configurations may take slightly longer.

We send order confirmations and dispatch notifications automatically. If you have questions mid-production, you're welcome to contact us — we'll check with the studio directly.

Final Thoughts

The best advice we can give any first-time buyer is this: read the product page carefully, use the customisation options available, and if something isn't clear — ask. We're real people and we respond to every message. There are no stupid questions when you're spending this kind of money.
